About the Artists:
Meet Josie & Ray
To understand me, you have to meet my Grandmother. It all started with her. Grandma Ruth was a nurse, a seamstress, cake decorator, and crafter when she wasn’t being the world’s best grandma. She passed her talents to my mom, who passed them on to me.
At her kitchen table, we cut out fabric, decorated cakes, made Christmas ornaments, and learned to crochet. At 12 or 13, she had me gathering ruffles for the wedding dresses she was sewing. I would watch for hours while she sat at her old black Singer Sewing Machine. She taught me everything I know. I know my creative spirit comes from her.
My artwork is inspired by growing up in North Carolina, the stories that grandma and my mom would tell me about life on the farm, my deep love of history, and my travels with my husband.
My hope is that every item you take home from Josie Hyatt Studio feels like a keepsake — be it a handcrafted handbag or items created with my photography or digital art — something that makes you smile, just a little brighter, each time you see it.

Ray
Hi, I’m Ray! I’ve been chasing creativity since I was a kid watching my dad doodle at the kitchen table. I tried everything over the years — drawing, photography, theater, building sets, even working on a movie. If it involved art or imagination, I was in.
I grew up surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains, which pretty much explains why I love landscapes. Later I learned photography the old-school way: film, darkrooms, and crossing my fingers hoping the pictures came out right. Sometimes they did. Sometimes… blue line.
Fast-forward through a whole lot of life and a bunch of different careers, and here I am — back to creating art again, this time with AI. It’s like photography: you take 50 shots, keep the best one, and enjoy the magic that happens along the way.
Now my wife and I run this store together, turning our ideas into art you can actually hold, hang, or drink coffee out of. Thanks for stopping by — we hope our creations bring a little color, joy, and curiosity into your day!
